Air-to-Air Heat Exchangers & Heat Recovery · Since 2005

Air-to-Air Heat Exchanger Standards Index

Testing Standards

  • EN 308 - test methods for air-to-air heat recovery components; the basis for published effectiveness.
  • EN 16798 - energy performance of buildings, including ventilation and recovery requirements.
  • AHRI 1060 - rating of air-to-air energy recovery ventilation equipment (North America).

Certification

  • Eurovent - independent certification that the claimed performance is real.
  • CE marking - conformity with applicable EU directives.

Efficiency Regulation

  • ErP / Ecodesign Lot 6 - minimum efficiency requirements for ventilation units with heat recovery in the EU.
  • ASHRAE 90.1 - energy standard that sets recovery thresholds by climate zone.

How to Read a Citation

When a datasheet cites EN 308, it should state the test conditions (airflow, temperature difference, face velocity). A bare standard number without conditions tells you little. Our Standards section explains each document in plain language.
